Friday, July 16, 2010: In Search of a Bus Stop
In search of a bus stop, he walked at night on a street in a strange city of low brick buildings, streetlights, and brightly lit shop interiors. Other people walked the streets, some entering and exiting the shops.
He walked into a building, climbing up and down many flights of stairs and through many corridors. He thought in general that he was moving below ground level. He entered a large room with a crowd gathered in a vague queue. He saw a concession stand with popcorn, a ticket booth, and a marquee. He realized it was a movie theater. He walked away in search of the bus stop.
He stood before a large platform open to daylight and a long descent to the ground. His father stood on the platform. A man made an announcement over a loudspeaker. His father shrugged and jumped to his death.
Tuesday, February 02, 2010: Strange House
He was lying in bed with his wife, trying to sleep. The room appeared unfamiliar to him. He got out of bed and walked into the unfamiliar kitchen. He pulled a chair out and away from the kitchen table and sat down. He thought to himself, Am I dreaming or am I awake? He remembered to look at his hands. He looked at his right hand, and it looked normal. He looked at his left hand, and his fingers faded. I am dreaming, he thought. Family members and friends entered, spoke briefly, and exited: his son and his daughter, his father, his friend Jeremy, his friend Bob. He stood up and walked back into the bedroom and laid down next to his wife.
Wednesday, November 04, 2009: Leeches
He walked down a cracked and pocked sidewalk along a dead-end street. Some of the holes in the sidewalk were filled with black smoking liquid. On his right was a tall fence with a hedge, and there were tall trees behind the fence, on the other side of the street, and at the end of the street. It was day, but there was only dim light because the trees shaded the dead-end road.
Others walked with him. They seemed to be searching for something. A moment came when they changed direction, away from the dead-end.
A father was looking for his son. The father said that his son told him there was something in the sidewalk. He changed direction again to show the holes in the sidewalk to the father. The holes had changed. They were filled with clear liquid, and tiny black leeches slinked and jumped out of the liquid. He and the father reacted to them by changing direction again, away from the dead-end road.
A school bus passed by. Something was wrong and people were being rescued.
Friday, May 30, 2008: Teachers, Traveling
He sat in the back of a lecture hall. A swarthy, bald man with an upturned moustache was giving a lecture. A man wearing glasses and a suit sat in the front row. A jovial man, also in a suit, sat behind him. There were others, too, between him and the back of the class.
In a different dream, he sat in the left back seat of an SUV, his father driving along a street at night. They were to meet his aunt at a restaurant for dinner in a strange city. Why this city? They did not know. As they closed upon the destination, they were no longer driving. His father walked along the sidewalk, and he rode a bicycle.
Saturday, May 17, 2008: Fighting a dragon and a stranger
They assembled within a strong building of brick and steel; still, it had large windows and doors. This place was like a fortress for them. And from inside this fortress, they defended themselves from the attack of a dragon. This dragon had scales of green and gold, a wide mouth of long white teeth, large round nostrils; and this is the part they could see, for the head of the dragon was too big to fit inside the building. One of their number could fly through the air and fought off the dragon with power of will.
In a different dream, he found himself on a city street at night. His parents pulled up to the curb in a car. A stranger holding a hollow steel rod started to threaten him. To defend himself from the stranger, he lied down on the sidewalk, under a structure of strong glass and metal. When the stranger tried to prod him from under this structure, he grasped the end of the rod and pried it from the grip of the stranger. He came out from under the structure, and drove the stranger away.
Saturday, April 26, 2008: Tornado, waking dream, father
He stood in a high apartment with others. Through a center window, he saw a tornado form from the underside of a hovering rectangle. He pointed it out to the others, and warned them. Suddenly, all was swept away by the tornado. He kept his eyes closed, but he could feel himself carried away by the wind.
Suddenly, he woke up, and he was lying in a bed. His father lay on his right next to him, holding him by the shoulder, shaking him awake and keeping him from falling off of the bed. “Where did you come from?” he asked. “I was tired, so I decided to lay down here. You were having a bad dream, so I woke you up.”
Wednesday, December 12, 2007: Tornado
I had a dream that I was walking around inside an apartment on the third floor of a three story building, similar to my childhood home. The walls were covered in cheap wood paneling, and the doors were not sturdy. My mother and father were there, and possibly my siblings, other relatives, and my wife and children. I could see through the window that the sky was cloudy. Somebody said that a tornado was coming. I picked up our dog, and we scrambled for the exit, to get into the cellar before the tornado hit.
Wednesday, July 04, 2007: Fragments
I can only recall fragments of dreams... a strange house with narrow stairs... living with my father, sister, brother, and my dog... somebody says, “You take the blue room.”... a red door... my brother and a friend are welding metal... climbing rocks near the ocean... neighbors doing drugs...
Saturday, December 02, 2006: White Room of Cats, Apartment
I was living in a large house. I explored the basement. I found some strangely shaped heat radiators. After that, I found a golden curtained glass wall. I opened the curtain. Beyond the curtain was a white room. I marvelled that I found a white room here. As I peered into the room, I saw that there was a glass wall on the other side, and a door that opened to a lawn. At least a dozen cats came into the room. I thought to myself, “How am I going to get rid of all of these cats?”
I had a dream that I was in a bookstore with some friends: Bob, William, and William's father.
I had a dream that I was moving very quickly along a road, with a view of grass, trees, streams, and ponds.
Finally, I had a dream that my family was living in a third floor apartment. We found that the second floor apartment was unoccupied, so we explored it. The walls were covered with brown paper. The walls themselves, in some places, were very soft, as if they had nothing beneath them but insulation material. In the kitchen were large heating vents.
We went to a bank to take out a mortgage. The bank agent was a middle-age woman with brown hair and glasses. As we were talking to her, I wondered why we were taking out a mortgage on an apartment.
Monday, October 23, 2006: Second Story Man
Under cover of night, I scaled a stone building. A rectangular reflecting pool was adjacent to the building. I wore loose dark clothing, and a scimitar on my belt. The stone had many crevasses and decorations to grip. I climbed up to a balcony, entered a room, and examined its contents by touch. What I searched for was not here. I climbed to another balcony, and continued my search.
Somehow, my brother appeared. He wanted to follow in my footsteps, but he was incompetent. He made too much noise. He couldn’t climb well. And he drew attention to us, so much that we were accosted by guards. I drove them back with my scimitar, while my brother hid behind me, clinging to my back. I couldn’t endure my brother’s interference any longer, so I climbed down and left.
I walked to my father’s house; he had moved. His house was on a corner. The road had a lot of noisy traffic, as it seemed to be a common shortcut. He wanted to borrow money, but I said no. My wife and daughter arrived, and I departed with them.
I was cuddling with my wife in bed. She asked me if I ever loved anybody else. I replied honestly, that yes I had, but that was years before I met her.
Sunday, October 22, 2006: Church Intrusions, Fatherly Extortion, Demonic Seduction
I stood next to a long heavy wood dining room table. Seated around the table were members of the church I left years ago in real life. The phone in the middle of the table began to ring. Those seated at the table looked to me expectantly. So I answered the phone. It was Malcolm David Kelley. He spoke to me about church-related things. I stopped him after a minute or so, saying that I no longer attended this church, and that I don't even know why I am here, then I hung up.
My dad, my sister, and I were driving at night. My sister dropped me off at a mall. I was going to see a movie in the theater that was in the mall. But when I got to the theater, it was full of members from the church I left years ago. This annoyed me, so I waited outside for my father and sister to return.
After my father and sister returned, my father was telling me that he needed to borrow money. He had two sheets of paper. One was a list of items totaling the money he needed to borrow. The second sheet was a list of insignificant things that he believed he had done for me that entitled him to money from me.
In a different dream, I was being seduced by three demons, and I let them seduce me.
In a dream I cannot place chronologically among the other dreams, I was coding my website. I added a CSS effect to title text to make it look blurry.
Friday, October 06, 2006: Dad, Broken Leg
I was walking down a sidewalk at night. The sidewalk was next to a road. There was some traffic on the road; I remember their headlights. On the other side of the road was water.
My father and my sister were walking ahead of me. My father was walking on crutches. His left leg was in a cast.
Monday, December 12, 2005: Sinister House
I was was a young boy. A young girl was with me. It was daylight, but everything seemed washed out and dull. We were investigating a strange house. The house was surrounded by a chain-link fence. The ground was dry, dusty, gray-brown dirt. The house was a three-decker sided in gray sandpaper. There was always a feeling that mean dogs were nearby.
We were confronted by a young shirtless boy and a young wavy-haired girl. They seemed threatening, and we dare not turn our backs on them for fear of harm. They had implements on them that could be used as weapons.
When the boy turned his back, I threw a rectangular piece of shiny metal at him. The piece stuck into his back, on the left shoulderblade. I felt terrible about what I had done, but the boy did not seem hurt. He wasn’t even bleeding. The girl pulled the metal from his back and handed it to me. I examined the metal. The metal was dull, except for one corner that was sharpened.
The boy and the girl went into the house. I followed them in, but the girl who was with me did not follow me in.
Suddenly, the hall was completely dark. As I felt my way down the hall, a blanket was thrown over me, and I was pushed down the cellar stairs.
I removed the blanket, and in the dim light of a small television, I could see a bedridden, morbidly-obese, retarded boy. I could also see my father in a chair nearby.
I left the room, trying to find my way out of the house. Upstairs, downstairs, down halls, nothing gave me a sense that I was near ground level.
I found a kitchen. The mother of the boy and the girl was there. She had wavy dull-brown hair, like her daughter. I tried to distract her with conversation, as I tried to find a way out. She agreed with what I was saying, but I didn't know if she was agreeing with me, or pretending to agree to stall me.
There was something religious but sinister about the whole family.
Eventually, I found my way out of the house, and we ran away.
Wednesday, September 15, 2004: Fragments
My dreams were fragmented so that I cannot recall any details beyond what I wrote when I woke up: gaming group, being lowered into a crowded stadium of yellow-clad baseball fans, and back to school.
In the dream I do remember, I was walking with my father in a mall. I ran into my boss, who showed my dad the latest gadget he had picked up.

Friday, September 10, 2004: Waking Dream, Younger Brother, Elderly Sleepers, Bus
I was sleeping next to my wife, but the bedroom looked different. It reminded me of when we had to live in my parents’ basement.
In another dream, I was trying to get downstairs from an upper floor of a large apartment building. I saw my younger brother (which I do not have in real life) studying medicine. I found a chaotic back porch, with mazes of railings, stairs, and piles of junk. After I got past those obstacles, I came upon a dark room filled with old people sleeping on mattresses on the floor. “Does anybody know they’re living like this?” I thought to myself.
In my last dream, my house had a huge garage. I pressed a button and opened the massive garage door. A city bus pulled into the garage. A mechanic began to tune up the bus. My father and brother were with me. I asked the mechanic if the buses are going back into service. He said, “It looks like they are.”
The buses have been on strike for two months. Ugh.
Monday, August 16, 2004: Mall, Old Friend and Poetry
I was in a large department store or shopping mall. The roof leaked. In the mall, I saw some security guards. And I saw two girls from Rich Girls. Or they could have been Edina and Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous?
I had a very positive dream about my old friend Will. He was living in a large apartment. Everything was painted white. His father was living there again, as were several other room-mates. Will was going to submit my poetry to a web site called Lovegods.com, or Lovegods.org, or something like that.
I checked the web sites and they don't exist, beyond some kind of dating serving links.
